The Lutheran Church confesses herself to be the true Catholic Church. That means we don’t see ourselves or our tradition as starting in 1517 or 1530. Rather, our tradition goes back to the beginning. We cherish the writings of the ancient Church as our own. To honor and embrace this fundamental perspective of the reformers towards the Church’s history, I’m starting this companion Substack where I translate and share materials from the ancient Church.
